A PRAYER was inspired by the text written by Marion Couthoy Smith published in an article found in the depths of the Michigan State University library.
The choice of alto saxophone to join the male tenor voice was to give an illusion of a duet, since the saxophone sound very simlar to the human voice. However the saxophone is written to weave in and out of the voice, as almost a shadow of the tenor.
